The November Spotlight is Santa Mike Berg in Pennsylvania.
Q: Tell us why you chose to volunteer with Santa America?
I was drawn to find Santa America after a we had a co-worker's daughter pass after a 10 week stay at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia (CHOP). No one asked about a Special Visit - but I realized then I wanted to find a Group. I did my Hospice Training with Lehigh Valley Hospital Network.
Q: Can you share with us a special experience?
My Hospice coordinator was contacted to see if Santa could make a Special Delivery. One of their families had a little girl who was not expected to see Christmas 2015 -so they were going to deliver gifts to her and her family. It was the First Time my Sack was filled and I could not close it! We delivered to 3 girls and a brother. She was a little Sweetheart and so full of life-but her cancer was back. The Family's story even had more heartbreak. Previously, they lost a Twin Brother and two days before our visit the mother's Dad passed. Mom missed the visit as she was making Funeral Arrangements. So, we delivered gifts and she wished Santa a Merry-Merry-Merry-Merry-Merry Christmas! This is what it is about....Love - Hope - Love wrapped in a Santa Hug!
Santa Mike is always willing to answer the call to serve our special families!
